The German Agribusiness Alliance (GAA) is an initiative of leading associations and companies in the agriculture and food industry. It serves as a platform for the exchange and bundling of economic interests in cooperation with transformation, emerging, and developing countries (partner countries) in the agricultural and food sector. It became primarily known under its long-standing German designation, "Arbeitsgruppe Agrarwirtschaft" (Agricultural Industry Working Group).
The goal of the German Agribusiness Alliance is to support the sustainable development of the agricultural and food sector in partner countries through a modernization partnership. It strives to improve fundamental national and international framework conditions for economic activities in and with these partner countries.
Specifically, the German Agribusiness Alliance is primarily involved in high-level economic policy appointments and events, visits by government representatives from partner countries, official foreign trips by the German Federal Government, as well as bilateral committee work with selected priority countries. Furthermore, the German Agribusiness Alliance coordinates the working group "Development Partnerships in the Agriculture and Food Sector."
High-ranking representatives of companies with significant involvement in partner countries are active in spokesperson roles for the German Agribusiness Alliance.
The German Agribusiness Alliance offers associations and companies in the agriculture and food industry the opportunity to help shape political decision-making processes regarding fundamental economic policy objectives.
It acts in dialogue with partner countries and in close coordination with the supporting associations and member companies. Positions on technically relevant topics are developed and represented by the supporting associations. If necessary, they are supported in communicating their specific interests.
The German Agribusiness Alliance focuses on supporting the cooperation between the responsible federal government ministries and selected partner countries; these include in particular
